Frequently Asked Questions
How do I buy membership and how much does it cost?
We hold taster classes at the start of the term which are all free and don’t require a membership. However, after that you must purchase a membership to attend our classes. Membership costs £50 for new members and £45 for returning members. They give you unlimited access to all classes during the academic year meaning that you don’t need to pay any extra for classes, they are all free for members! – buy your membership here.
If you face any issues with your purchase, please contact the Students’ Union reception directly. If you are an Alumni, an affiliate student or from another university, please contact the Students’ Union reception to find out whether and how you can join our club with a Visiting or Associate Membership.
Where are the classes?
Our classes are held in various rooms around UCL campus. The location for each class will be specified on the booking page, so make sure to check before you go as locations may sometimes change.
What should I wear?
You can wear anything you like but make sure it is comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement. We recommend t-shirts, sports-wear and leggings.
Are there any class rules?
Please always be ready to show the teacher the email which you received upon purchasing membership as proof of your eligibility to participate in our sessions. Please also make sure to download the pdf that is offered to you once you have completed a booking. This will serve as proof that you have booked a particular class if attendance is checked by the teacher.
Be at the location of the class at least 5 minutes before the start time to ensure that you can enter the room together and have enough time to find a spot.
Should I bring a yoga mat?
We provide yoga mats at every session however you are always welcome to bring your own mat. Due to hygiene purposes, please wipe down the communal mats before and after use. You are also welcome to bring a towel and place it on the mat during your practice.
I’ve never done yoga before, will I be able to keep up?
Don’t worry, we have classes for all abilities and our wonderful teachers are happy to tailor the classes to every level. We do have some advanced level classes too that may be more challenging but the difficulty level will always be clearly stated on the booking page. The great thing about yoga is it can be as intense or gentle as your body wants.
Do you host retreats?
We hold a retreat at the end of the year which is always a lot of fun and offers you a chance to bond with fellow yogis. Our retreat usually takes place abroad after exams. We will advertise these closer to the time.
In 2024, we visited Hridaya Yoga in Longeval, France. We spent a wonderful week in nature delving deeper into Hatha Yoga, the yogi tradition and yoga philosophy. In 2023, we visited Barcelona and we had the chance to do yoga by the sea. We spent 5 days exploring the city and reconnecting with the sea and sand all while practicing Vinyasa Yoga.

Please make sure to save the PDF to show to our teachers at the beginning of classes.
What do I do if I can no longer attend a class?
If you can no longer attend a class you previously booked, please go to our swapping sheet and put down your full name under the relevant date and time under ‘Name of Booking’. You can also message the members WhatsApp group chat to let people know about an available ticket.
Please offer your spot to the group at least 3 hours before the start time of class to give other students the chance to take up your spot and make it in time.
What do I do if I am taking someone’s spot?
To take someone’s spot please write down your full name under the relevant date and time under ‘Replacement’.
Teachers will have a list of allocated attendees and will not allow anyone else in, unless you have brought proof of exchange showing that you have taken the place of someone on the name list.
